Update on Sagicor Summer Slam 2025
Sagicor Summer Slam Tennis Tournament Update
August 4, 2025
The Sagicor Summer Slam Tennis Tournament continues to deliver exciting action, and we are pleased to report that the event remains incident-free. With lovely weather gracing the courts, conditions have been ideal for high-level tennis, and we are truly grateful.
In the Under-12 Boys' Division, local talents Kimari Felix and Vernon Justin have topped their respective groups to advance to the main draw semi-finals. Felix is set to face Jordon Edwards of Antigua, while Justin will take on fellow Saint Lucian Riley Smith in a much-anticipated clash for a spot in the finals.
Also in the Girls' Under-12 category, Saint Lucian representatives Kiara Lambert and Katalia Felix were unable to advance to the main draw, having fallen short in both of their singles matches. The semi-finals will feature an all-Antiguan showdown between Brooke Hosam and Suri Hernandez, while Isabelle Wood and Ava Warner of Barbados will face off in the other semi-final for a place in the championship match. These young athletes have shown tremendous growth, and it has been a pleasure to witness such high-intensity and competitive tennis from our female players.
In the Under-18 category, spectators were treated to some nail-biting matches. Denney Estava was pushed to the limit by Immanuel Charles in a critical battle for main draw qualification. Meanwhile, Sanjay Lake delivered a strong performance, defeating Elliott Anthony in a thrilling two-set encounter. Lake went on to top his group and will face Immanuel Charles in the semi-final. In the second semi-final, Estava will take on Tahj Goodman, with both matches promising fierce competition for a place in the final.
The level of play has been exceptional, and the sportsmanship on display is a credit to all players and their coaches. The organizing committee commends the efforts of everyone involved, including our officials and supporters, for contributing to a smooth and successful tournament so far.
As we head into the knockout rounds, we look forward to more thrilling matches and memorable moments. Stay tuned for further updates as the tournament progresses.
