St Lucia to Host Regional ITF Level 1 Coaching Course

09/02/2025

The St Lucia Tennis Association (SLTA) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting an ITF Level 1 Coaching Beginner and Intermediate Players (CBI) Course from 12th–23rd September 2025 at the National Tennis Centre in Beausejour, Gros-Islet.

This regional course will bring together coaches and participants from across the Caribbean, with confirmed representation from Grenada, Curaçao, St Vincent & the Grenadines, St Kitts & Nevis, and St Lucia. The program is designed to strengthen tennis development by equipping coaches with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively train players at the beginner and intermediate levels. https://www.stluciatennis.com/lca-regional-cbi-course/

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has appointed Irina Kuzmina-Rimsa (LAT) as the ITF Tutor for the course. She will be working alongside Evan Heyliger (BER), ensuring participants receive world-class instruction and guidance throughout the 12-day program.

To qualify for the ITF Level 1 CBI Course, participants are required to have completed the Play Tennis Course and to complete specific modules on the ITF Academy online platform. The SLTA previously hosted the Play Tennis Course in 2018 and again in November 2024, where 12 additional coaches were certified. For this year's ITF Level 1 course, eight St Lucian coaches have already registered, and the Association encourages more eligible and certified persons to take advantage of this valuable opportunity.

This initiative is funded by Olympic Solidarity, Cabot Cares, and the National Lotteries Authority, with the St Lucia Olympic Committee working closely with the SLTA to ensure proper planning, preparation, and execution of the course.

The SLTA is proud to host this important initiative and remains committed to fostering growth, development, and excellence in Caribbean tennis.
