St. Lucia Secures Thrilling Victory Over Jamaica at World Junior Tennis Competition

The St. Lucia National Under-14 Girls Team delivered an outstanding performance today at the World Junior Tennis Competition in El Salvador, securing a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Jamaica.
The team got off to a commanding start in the first singles match, with Merkisha Justin producing a dominant display to win convincingly in straight sets, 6–1, 6–0. Her confident and composed performance set the tone early for St. Lucia.

In the second singles match, Kahenya Mukora faced Jamaica's number one seed in what proved to be a highly competitive contest. Demonstrating resilience and determination, Mukora battled through to claim an impressive 6–4, 6–4 victory, showcasing both skill and mental toughness under pressure.

With the tie level at 1–1, the doubles match became the decider, and it did not disappoint. In a tense and dramatic encounter, the St. Lucian pair fought back from a 5–2 deficit in the second set, showing tremendous grit to level at 5–5, then again at 6–6. The match ultimately went to a tiebreak, where the St. Lucian team held their nerve to secure a 7–6 win and seal the overall tie.

This victory is a testament to the team's fighting spirit, unity, and determination. The players were strongly supported by their teammates, including Samuella Bertrand and Tahj Goodman, as well as dedicated parents in attendance who provided invaluable encouragement throughout the matches.
