St. Lucia's national women's tennis team opened their Billie Jean King Cup Americas Group III campaign in El Salvador with an inspiring 2-1 victory over Panama.

The tie began with Julia d' Avergne stepping onto court for the first singles match, where she fought hard but came up short against Panama's opener. St. Lucia quickly bounced back as Jessica Eudovic delivered a dominant performance in the second singles, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets to level the tie.

With everything riding on the decisive doubles rubber, captain Stacey Roheman teamed up with Eudovic, and the pair rose to the occasion. They powered past Panama's duo 6-2, 6-1, sealing the victory for St. Lucia and giving the team their first win of the tournament.

"This is a fantastic start for our girls," said team officials. "They showed resilience, composure, and determination to fight back after the opening match."

St. Lucia now turns its focus to their next challenge against Uruguay, as the players look to build on the momentum of their opening success and continue their push for promotion.
