Saint Lucia National U14 Teams Compete at WJTC in El Salvador, Girls Face Jamaica Today

The St. Lucia Tennis Association is proud to highlight the participation of its junior female team currently competing in El Salvador at the prestigious World Junior Tennis Competition (WJTC) pre-qualifying tournament.
The team departed on Monday with high hopes and determination as they prepare to face some of the region's strongest competitors. Representing Saint Lucia are three talented athletes: Kahenya Mukora, an experienced senior player, alongside Samuella Bertrand and Merkisha Justin, both of whom have previously competed in this format at the U12 level.
On the opening day of competition, Saint Lucia faced a strong Costa Rica team, going down 3–0 in the tie. Despite the result, the team displayed commendable effort and resilience on court.

Team Captain, Coach Scyla Murray, shared her thoughts following the match, noting that the competition is very challenging but expressing pride in the team's performance. She emphasized that the players competed well and continue to gain valuable experience at this level.
Attention now turns to today's matchup against Jamaica, where the team will be looking to bounce back and build on their opening performance.
The Association also notes that a boys' team was initially scheduled to participate, comprising Tahj Goodman and Immanuel Charles. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the team had to be withdrawn from the tournament. The Association remains committed to providing similar competitive opportunities for the boys, who were well-prepared and eager to represent Saint Lucia at this level.
The Association encourages the public to continue supporting the national team as they proudly represent Saint Lucia on the international stage.
On behalf of the St. Lucia Tennis Association, special thanks are extended to the National Lotteries Authority for making participation in this tournament possible for our junior athletes. Gratitude is also expressed to the parents who contributed financially, including Mr. and Mrs. Mukora and Mr. and Mrs. Goodman. Their support played a pivotal role in ensuring the team's attendance and preparation for this important competition.
The entire nation stands behind these young athletes as they continue their journey at the WJTC.
