Junior National Tennis Teams Earn Selection Through Competitive National Playoffs

The St. Lucia Tennis Association (SLTA) proudly announces the confirmation of Saint Lucia's junior national tennis teams following a thrilling weekend of National Playoffs, where athletes were required to compete directly for their places on the national teams.

The playoffs were designed as a true selection event, with players earning their positions through on-court performance, determination, and competitive excellence. Every match counted, and selection was based on athletes proving themselves under pressure against their peers.

Junior Billie Jean King Cup Team (U16)

After intense competition in the National Playoffs, the following athletes secured their places on the Junior Billie Jean King Cup national team:

  • Charissa Melville
  • Jaelyn Henry
  • Amia Jn Marie

The team will represent Saint Lucia at the Junior Billie Jean King Cup Pre-Qualifying Event in Guatemala from 20–28 February. The team will be captained by Coach Ron Blanchard, who will lead preparations as the athletes transition into international competition.

Junior Davis Cup Team

The following athletes earned selection to the Junior Davis Cup national team through competitive match play during the playoffs:

  • Alhil Cyril
  • Denny Estava
  • Sanjay Lake

The Junior Davis Cup team will also compete at the Pre-Qualifying Event in Guatemala from 20–28 February, under the leadership of Coach Vernon Lewis.

World Juniors Under-14 Boys Team

Following competitive head-to-head matches, the athletes selected for the World Juniors Under-14 Boys Team are:

  • Tahj Goodman
  • Immanuel Charles
  • Daniel Collymore

The team will compete in the World Juniors Tournament in El Salvador from 23–25 March, with Coach Ajaunie Scott serving as team captain.

World Juniors Girls Team

The following athletes earned their places on the World Juniors Girls Team after competing for selection:

  • Samuella Bertrand
  • Merkisha Justin
  • Kahenya Mukora

The girls' team will also compete in El Salvador from 23–31 March, under the guidance of Coach Scyla Murray.

Next Phase: Preparation and Performance

The SLTA extends sincere thanks to all athletes who competed in the National Playoffs, as well as the coaches, parents, and support personnel who continue to support junior athlete development. With team selection complete, focus now shifts to structured training, high-performance preparation, and international readiness.

These athletes have earned the right to wear the national colours, and the SLTA is confident they will represent Saint Lucia with pride, resilience, and competitive spirit on the international stage.
