Blanchard’s Tennis Frenzy Marks a Successful Day of Competition

The Blanchard's Tennis Frenzy, held on Saturday, February 7, was a very successful tennis tournament that delivered exciting competition and valuable match experience for athletes across multiple age groups. The event featured four categories and highlighted the continued growth and development of local tennis.
The Under-10 category recorded 15 participants, consisting of seven boys and eight girls Amiyah-Royale Doxerie, Kaleia George, Maeve Emmanus, Sheba Pilgrim, Arya Raymond, Sangie Edmund, Akella Alexander, Angelique George, and the boys Kymani St Rose, Kaj Lander, Sebastian Maurille, Nicholas Tyler, Kallan Michel-Francois, Zandre Anthony and Ajani Charles . This division reflected several young athletes gaining early exposure to organized competitive tennis.
In the Under-12 category, Kimari Felix emerged as champion after a strong performance throughout the draw, while Vernon Justin finished as finalist.
The Orange Ball category produced a special milestone, as Terrell Goodman captured his first-ever tennis title. He was challenged by Xzavier Sammy, who finished as finalist following a competitive match.
The Under-16 division showcased impressive performances in both the girls' and boys' draws.

In the girls' category, Merkisha Justin claimed the championship title, with Joelle Habib finishing as finalist.

In the boys' category, Immanuel Charles secured the championship, while Tahj Goodman finished as finalist.
The tournament concluded with strong competition in the Open categories.

In the women's open, Ellen George was crowned champion, with Cathy Sammy finishing as finalist.

In the men's open, Sanjay Lake claimed the title, defeating Alhil Cyril in the final.
Blanchard's Tennis Frenzy also served as an important warm-up event ahead of the National Independence Tennis Tournament, the largest event on the local tennis calendar in Saint Lucia, scheduled to take place from February 13 to February 18.
As JTI Coordinator, Scyla Murray congratulated Coach Ron Blanchard for taking the initiative to provide athletes with a valuable platform to compete. The tournament offered quality competition and, for some participants, served as an introduction to competitive tennis.
Murray also encouraged coaches to consider hosting more tournaments, emphasizing that regular competition is essential for athlete development and growth.
